Kernersville's Creative Kids is a program developed to encourage visual arts creativity in our children.  This Spring Folly, children ages 4-16 will create Mother's Day gifts from the discards of our local businesses. The children will be making bracelets, purses, necklaces or any other items they can create with the materials at hand.  The activities will start at 11:00 AM and end at 5:00 PM.  Just bring your imagination, it's free!  The businesses that contributed to this event are Summer Industries, Boone Fabrics, Wes Cromer, Inc, Sherwin Williams, Spark Branding and Mitchell & Bartlett Orthodontics.

Noah’s Place Petting Zoo (Saturday only)                          Free
Located in front of the Nationwide Insurance office

Get up close with a variety of God’s creations – petting zoo animals.  Hand washing and sanitizing area provided.  Noah’s Place is a licensed petting zoo operated by Rev. Pete Kunkle.  Free admission.  Sponsored by Best Services.

Bounce around safely on an 20 x 20’ inflatable floor while you do battle with your friends.  It’s all friendly competition, but winning will give you bragging rights.

YMCA Basketball & Children’s Games                             Free

Try your hand at the game invented by the YMCA – basketball.  See how many shots you can make in one minute.

Also, the “Y” has a series of games for all ages.  It’s all free, wholesome family fun.

Paint Savvy Face Painting
Located in front of the Harry Warren, LLC Building

This is face painting at its finest.  Bring your camera as you will want your picture taken.

Shetland Pony Rides
Located in front of the education building of Main Street Baptist Church

This is a great activity for the kids.  Ride the carousel powered by 3 Shetland ponies.  Rides are $5.

Glitter Gulch Mining Company
Located in front of the Hart Complex

Strike it Rich panning for treasures in our twenty foot gemstone panning sluice. It is like Christmas morning as you uncover lots of minerals, gemstones, fossils, even an arrowhead! There are over 200 different minerals and fossils to be found, including amethyst, tourmaline, many types of jasper, tiger eye, and citrine to name a few. Gems, Minerals, Fossils and More! Glitter Gulch Mining offers this educational experience and fun for all ages."

Climbing Wall
Located near the Main Street Baptist Church education building

The goal is to ring the bell at the top of the climbing wall, using the various handholds to your advantage.  This is a popular event among teens, but also other athletic or determined people.  Impress your friends and yourself by climbing to the top.

NC National Guard                                                                          Free
Located at the intersection of Armfield & North Main Streets

Come and see some of the high tech equipment of the NC National Guard.  On display will be a palletized load system truck, which carries supplies and ammunition to the field.

Kernersville Idols
Located in front of MuddPies Pottery & Gifts

Be one of the contestants at this year’s Spring Folly.  You are invited to participate in the Kernersville Idols contest!  Age groups are 4-11, 12-19, and 20 & up.  Select your music from over 25,000 pre-recorded Karaoke tracks, from Extreme DJ Productions.  You are welcome to practice Friday at the open mic time from 7-10 PM or sing for fun!  The competition is Saturday, from 10 AM – 2:30 PM with the winners announced at 3:00 PM.   Advanced registration is preferred, however you may sign up the day of the event.  Application Fee is $10.00.  Prizes for the top three and the top 7 in each age group will be listed on the Spring Folly website and may have the opportunity to perform in other area events throughout 2009.  The 1st place winner may receive an invitation to the next Talent Search TV contest; 2nd place winners a video and a cash prize for the 3rd place.  The best overall winner may receive a recording of their song with Sonic records.

Thanks to the generosity of our Kernersville Lowe’s Home Improvement store, you can build your own woodworking project.  Lowe’s provides quite of selection of things to build.  There is no charge to participate.  Parental assistance is welcomed and encouraged for younger children.  All of the equipment and supplies are provided.  You keep the finished results
