CNN bus will be on South Main Street all day Saturday (May 7), interviewing local people for a news story "Defining America." They will be giving away CNN hats.
The focal
point of the street festival is music on two stages, but there
is plenty else to do. Visit our youth
and teen areas for "hands on"
creative projects and challenging activities. Kid's really
enjoy the rides and petting zoo while mom and dad enjoy the
variety of musical, from bluegrass, country, Christian, beach
and top 40 tunes. All of the concerts are free. Teens can't
say "there is nothing to do" when they have options
such as the climbing wall, sports contests and "water
wars" water balloon area.
Tasty
food is plentiful at Spring Folly. The Harris Teeter Main
Stage area features a food court of choices that includes
the traditional hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries and soft
drinks, but also the Lexington-style barbecue the South is
known for. Food area near the children's ride area satisfy
the whole gamut of hearty appetites.
If you're
into history, Saturday is ideal for a walk back in time. The
antique car show features hundreds
of mint-condition vintage cars, trucks and law enforcement
vehicles. Even the oldest Spring Folly visitor can view antique
bicycles that are "before their time." Korner's
Folly, Kernersville's most famous tourist attraction, opens
its doors for free tours. The entire historic district is
featured in the free Spring Folly program guide. The guide
provides a self-guided walking tour "down memory lane."
Just a
few steps away from the music stages, do a little shopping
at the Arts & Crafts show or our
Commercial & Organizations
vending area. Local and regional artisans will amaze you with
unique creations. A stroll through the Commercial & Organization
area provides an opportunity to show for the unique gift,
explore special prices on all kinds of good an services, or
to learn about the various organizations in our community.
Spring
Folly is a weekend for Kernersville to shine. The entire community
comes together to highlight what makes Kernersville special
- friendly people. You'll find churches, non-profit organizations,
civic clubs and community leaders all collaborating to put
on a great event for you.
