In 1977, country artist and songwriter Ronnie McDowell captured lightning in a bottle when he co-wrote and recorded “The King Is Gone,” a moving tribute to Elvis that topped the country and pop charts and sold five million copies. Mike Curb, president of Curb Records, thinks that Ronnie may have done it again with his new song “Hey, Mr. Oilman.”
The song, about the high cost of gasoline and what it is doing to the American heartland and its people, has struck an immediate chord with people across the nation and every day excitement about it continues to build. The single will appear on Ronnie’s upcoming Curb release CD, entitled Hey, Mr. Oilman. |

The Dixie Cups hail from New Orleans and are best known for their hit song Chapel of Love. The three girls who comprised the group were Barbara Ann Hawkins, her sister Rosa Lee Hawkins and their cousin Joan Marie Johnson. They were originally known as Little Miss and the Muffets. The group was renamed the Dixie Cups, and their version of Chapel Of Love was released in 1964 on Red Bird. It became a huge international hit, a million seller, and a solid number one record in the United States.
The Dixie Cups added two more top forty hits in 1964, People Say and You Should Have Seen The Way He Looked At Me. When there was a pause in one of their recording sessions, the girls began a chanting song that they had learned in New Orleans called Iko Iko. It was a call-and-respond type of chant with some percussion in the background, and when they recorded it, it became their final top forty record, in the Spring of 1965. |

Cindy Johnson of Stage 2 Ministries hails from Winston-Salem but has travelled the world providing God’s word through song, sharing the stage with such notable Christian groups as Jars of Clay, Mark Schultz, Andrew Peterson, Derek Webb and more. She has produced four full length albums, Beyond the Obvious, No Longer Satisfied, As I Go and the Christmas Promise. Cindy Johnson is an award winning composer who says, “God has grown me not only as a vocalist, but also as a songwriter and a guitarist.” Bring the family. Bring the youth group. Join us at the Main Stage for a wonderful concert of hope and truth. |

The focal
point of the street festival is music on two stages, but there
is plenty else to do. Visit our youth
and teen areas for "hands on"
creative projects and challenging activities. Kid's really
enjoy the rides and petting zoo while mom and dad enjoy the
variety of musical, from bluegrass, country, Christian, beach
and top 40 tunes. All of the concerts are free. Teens can't
say "there is nothing to do" when they have options
such as the climbing wall, sports contests and "water
wars" water balloon area. Tasty
food is plentiful at Spring Folly. The Harris Teeter Main
Stage area features a food court of choices that includes
the traditional hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries and soft
drinks, but also the Lexington-style barbecue the South is
known for. Food area near the children's ride area satisfy
the whole gamut of hearty appetites. If you're
into history, Saturday is ideal for a walk back in time. The
antique car show features hundreds
of mint-condition vintage cars, trucks and law enforcement
vehicles. Even the oldest Spring Folly visitor can view antique
bicycles that are "before their time." Korner's
Folly, Kernersville's most famous tourist attraction, opens
its doors for free tours. The entire historic district is

provides a self-guided walking tour "down memory lane." Just a
